Safe Journey

Whoever says that music when it is sublime is beyond definition is perfectly right… There are cloying sounds that fill commercial radios and there are millions and millions of music that the world gives us, we just have to search with love and patience…. Safe Journey is not an album to listen to in the background. This music takes all your attention, turns your day around and transforms an afternoon that could have been nice with a book into a real vision of everything that life could give you only if you take the trouble to look for and listen to your heart.

Here, among the grooves of the record, hides the wonderful idea that there is only one language, not spoken, not written, but with which it is possible to tell or just listen to something infinite that can embrace every human being. Steve Tibbetts flies high, rely on his guitars. You’ll fly very high and everywhere.

    GIGI MASIN Movement

    9/10

    Italian ambient maestro’s profound pleasure

Movement is, fittingly, Gigi Masin’s most dynamic album. After a lifetime of elegant drifting, the Venetian ambient colossus, who turned 70 last year, delivers his late-period masterpiece: a bluesy, blissed-out, jazzy techno meditation on love, loss, rhythm and harmony. Part tribute to his late wife, part statement of intent, Masin conveys a world of feelings across these nine tracks, gliding through Kraftwerkian electro on “Golden” and “Deception Dance”, noodling appreciatively on “Azimuth (John Taylor)” and even making sense of ’90s art-funk with “Lost” and “The Age Of Sampling”. Bookended by ambient haze, the whole thing flows beautifully.
