Speaking about Marion Brown albums (we love the most)

Alto sax player and composer Marin Brown had his appearance on John Coltrane‘s free jazz eruption ASCENSION. And he was an essential part of Harold Budd‘s „Pavillion of Dreams“ from Brian Eno‘s Obscure Records. Quite contrary albums. Now Dutch label Aguire rereleased Marion Brown‘s „Awofora“ from 1976, not released on Impulse Records like some of his career highlights did. Andy Beta (who just came up with his Alice Coltrane biography) loves „Awofora“. Four ears, two views.

Note: I haven’t heard „Awofora“, this actual reissue of this ludicrously hard to hear 1976 album. But now. Note: It’s my favorite Marion Brown record. Yeah, even more than Sweet Earth Flying. Note: And I fucking love Sweet Earth Flying. Even more than Geechee Recollections. Note: I still find myself on the other side of the fence with Afternoon Of A Georgia Faun, but keep hoping that may one day change.

Note: I haven’t heard, too, this actual reissue of this ludicrously hard to hear 1976 album. But now. Note: It’s NOT my favorite Marion Brown record, but a quite good one – 3 or 3 and 1/2 stars. I have two favourite Marion Brown albums  Sweet Earth Flying. And Geechee Recollections (I fucking love both of them). Note: I still find myself on the other side of the fence with Afternoon Of A Georgia Faun (one of those early ECM albums I didn’t fall in love with 😉), but keep hoping that may one day change.
