Six excerpts from new interviews with Jon Balke, Alabaster, Tommy & Andrew, two excerpts from an email exchange on Manafon Variations with Jan Bang and Erik Honoré, and eight texts of mine. Funny trivia: I never worked longer in sequencing, preparing and writing a radio hour. Hope it doesn‘t end in „over-production“. Too many good ideas easily prepare the ground for failure and „Verzettelung“! The good news. I am only the go-between. There is no replacement for listening.

As i‘ve heard, the forthcoming album of Anouar Brahem will be released a bit later than planned, on March 28, which makes it a perfect evening for presenting this album the night before. Along with Jon Balke‘s exceptional „solo piano album plus spectrafon“ and, at least a mentioning of Paul Bley‘s milestone „Open, to love“, this is the ECM „chapter“ of the show. The reissue of David Sylvian‘s „Died In The Wool – Manafon Variations“ offers a perfect opportunity to take it out from the ivory tower (where it doesn‘t belong) and experience its „street credibility“. It is, by the way the very last album of David, the singer! The album from the duo „Tommy Perman / Andrew Wasylyk“ is a shining star of the English label „Clay Pipe Music“, and I am very sure that it will rise the interest for its broad palette of moods, songs, (graphic) stories – and cover art. Center state belongs to the forthcoming album of Alabaster DePlume, whose research area betweeen the private and the political comes along with a lightness that makes even its darkest moments a study in elevation. And if Hosoni Haruomi won‘t be played this time, he will definitely have a decent apparition in one of my forthcoming „Klanghorizonte“ evenings at Deutschlandfunk in April, June, or September. In case you don‘t wanna wait, go hunting for „Medicine Compilation From The Quiet Lodge“. A glorious reissue from Victory Records. And a collector‘s item again soon!

The unanswered question is a beautiful Charles Ives piece. And, on another level of the „everyday routine“, it is the question how to end that Klanghorizonte hour on March 27. A track from Paul Bley‘s jazz piano milestone makes as much sense as one of so many awesome pieces from that Japanese medicine compilation. After discovering Hosoni‘s „Pacific“ years ago, a gem from the late 70’s, followed weeks ago by Omni Sight Seeing from the late 80‘s, I was even more blown away on my time travel acticvities by Medicine Compilation From The Quiet Lodge, daring back to 1993. Japanese Jewels they are all, but if it comes push to shove (and declaring myself a true beginner in regards to Hosoni Haruomi), I chose these transmissions „from the quiet lodge“ as being my favourite. I asked someone to do some digging in the archive of DLF, and perhaps they find my old radio portrait about Paul Bley‘s life and times in dusted shelves. „Otherwise – throw the dice!“ („Omni Sight Seeing“ and „Medicine Compilation From The Quiet Lodge“ have recently been reissued on beautifully coloured vinyl by Victory Records. I bought both of them for a really quite low price at HHV, Berlin)
