Manchen werden sich an seine Zusammenarbeiten mit Dollar Brand alias Ibdullah Ibrahim erinnern, oder an sein feines Saxofonspiel auf dem tollen Paul Motian-Alben „Tribute“. In der Begegnung war er überaus freundlich, über seinen alten Weggefährten Dollar wollte er kein Wort reden – da ist es wohl zu einem Bruch gekommen.
