Oh, Ganavya. She´s a wonderful american singer with an Indian background. I met her at a Tibetan Buddhist Centre LAC in the mountains outside of Barcelona this summer. Based in LA and touring with her wonderful parents who joins in on vocal duties on her latest album. I believe Wayne Shorter guested on the recording of her new album which includes a version of Alice Coltrane´s Journey in Satchidananda.

The LAC centre is hosting a beautiful festival that i´m sure you would love.

Oh ya, Jan, tusen tak for your wonderful hints. And, no big surprise that circles of both of you already touched 😉 😉 Ganavya has a Tamil background. I met her in the special city of Monheim, situated at the Rhine river between Cologne and Düsseldorf. She performed there at the Prequel of the Monheim Triennale with a.o. Heiner Goebbels and Shazad Ismaily (what a combination!).

Ganavya is really something. In the Monheim performances she did something I have not experienced in that way before. She created a very own intense flow marked by a natural confluence of South Indian elements and contemporary creative music expressions. Also the seamless transitions between both as leading voicings were stunning and captivating.

I have written about her performances at Monheim Prequel here

She has released 3 works in 2024:

DAUGHTER OF A TEMPLE (in November)

    draw something beautiful (in July)

like the sky I have been too quiet (in March)
