Früh am Nachmittag kam ein Päckchen, darin Mark Doyles beeindruckendes Büchlein über John Cales „Paris 1919“ (ich fliege gerade im Kindle durch die 120 Seiten) und – sehr preiswert (ich verschenkte es schon diverse Male) – Paul Bleys „Open, to love“ als digipak-Cd. Ich stockte: „Na hör mal“, sagte ich zu mir, „das ist doch Synchronizität“. Ich schaute nach, genau: beide Platten erschienen 1973! Und das waren wohl die beiden besten Alben jenes Jahres, naja, vielleicht würde ich ihnen noch ein, zwei, drei, aus meinem 18. Jahr an die Seite stellen. Denn jenes Jahrzehnt war wirklich verrückt. And completely overflowing with lessons of love, life, magic, and death. I‘m still learning them today. Learning to fail. Learning to surrender. (Another magic list of the 70‘s)

Gesammelte Notizen zur Entstehung dieser Liste:
Das, was jetzt kommt, sind die Platten der 70’s, die, als sie rauskamen, in den 70‘s, mich verzaubert haben. Was dabei auffält: es sind auch (und zum Glück) Platten dabei, denen später keine Denkmäler errichtet wurden.
Hier geht es ja nicht um playing smartass.
Und all DIESE Platten sind unvergesslich, weil sie gleichzeitig Körper, Seele und Geist erreichten, sie brannten sich ein, sie leben noch immer.

Of course, there are albums i fell in love with later, like the stuff of King Crimson or Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks. But THESE lifers were those who came „like a hurricane“ to me in those old days…

Wie zum Beispiel die posthum in den 70‘s rausgekommenen Alben Live In Japan und Interstellar Space von John Coltrane oder Exodus von Bob Marley. Sicher meine meistgespielte Reggaeplatte in jenem Jahrzehnt
Oder Seite 1 von Evening Star von Fripp & Eno. Oder Seite 1 von Arbour Zena von Keith Jarrett.. (Die 100 mache ich noch voll.)
Und zu den Spielregeln gehört, dass NUR die Alben genannt sind, die mich damals im Sturm nahmen. So ein Album wie Alice Coltranes Journey in Satchinanda entdeckte ich mit der nötigen Ruhe erst viel später.
Und viele Reggaewunderplatten brauchte auch, distributionstechnisch, ihre Zeit, bei mir zu landen wie etw das 12 Sterne Album LOVE AND PEACE von Dadawah.
John Cales Paris 1919 erschien in meinem Abiturjahr 1973, und zu mir kam es wohl so um 1977 herum. And some of the records listed, they rest in peace meaning i rarely still listen to them, but they linger in warm memories…
Die Liste hat mit Einschlafprobleme bereitet, mein Unbewusstes schien die 100er voll machen zu wollen…. also tröpfelten dann noch ein paar ins Bewusstsein…
UND ERINNERUNGEN AN DAS LEBEN DAMALS, SZENEN…
…. und manchmal musste ich gestern gucken, schon Siebziger oder noch Sechziger wie bei AQUALUNG, noch Siebziger oder schon Achtziger wie bei MELT.

Honestly, this list was my soulfood in the 70’s, and, with a smile and the time travel department in my mind I can say, i nearly replayed half of my teenager years and half of my twens in 34 years of Klangjorizonte 😉
A propos Mark Doyle’s book: before I did NOT fell in sleep, i rushed through the first long years about Cale’s life in NYC and Los Angeles. I was stunned: the amount of great little stories, detail, profound reflection… this will probably be my favourite book of the 33 1/3 I’ve read…
Ich kann gar nicht abwarten, doe tolle reissue von PARIS 1919 von Domino anno 2024 wieder aufzulegen, und habe mit heute, geflasht durch die Stories über Nico und Cale, sofort das Domino Remaster von The Marble Index bestellt… Es dauerte ungefähr bis in die 80er, dass ich The Marble Index in mein Herz schloss…one of the darkest records of them all!
