“Three Of A Perfect Pair“

Sich das Magazin zu besorgen, lohnt sich – es ist eine lange und gehaltvolle Coverstory. Ich stehe vor dem kleinen Problem, was denn nun wohl mein Album des Jahres wird, „Luminal“ von Eno / Wolfe, oder „Close“ von Steve Tibbetts. Die Lösung: ich erkläre einfach beide zu meinem „album of the year“ – schlau, woll!? Schwieriger schon ist das Finale meiner Klanghorizonte am 25. September: kommt ein brandneues Stück von „Liminal“ ins Spiel, ganz am Ende, oder der in diesem Herbst „jubilierende“ Meilenstein „Another Green World“? Beide nacheinander, das wird schwierig, die eng bemessene Zeit lässt es kaum zu. Der alte Spruch der Filmemacher beim „Cut“: „kill your darlings“. Meine ausgesuchten Songs aus den beeindruckenden Arbeiten von Lucrecia Dalt und Jeff Tweedy sind schon rausgeflogen.

It’s worth getting hold of the magazine—it’s a long and substantial cover story. I’m faced with the small problem of deciding which will be, in retrospect, my album of the year, “Luminal” by Eno/Wolfe or ‘Close’ by Steve Tibbetts? The solution: I’ll simply declare both to be „my burners of 2025”—clever, right? More difficult is the finale of my Klanghorizonte on September 25: will a brand new piece from “Liminal” come into play at the very end, or the “jubilant” milestone “Another Green World” turning 50. Both one after the other will be difficult; the tight schedule hardly allows it. The old saying of filmmakers in the ‘cut’: “kill your darlings.” My selected songs from the impressive works of Lucrecia Dalt and Jeff Tweedy have already been dropped. Blame it on Jan Bang‘s „After The Wildfire“ – and the flow factor!
